Dr. Jonathan Wechter is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who brings calm confidence, surgical precision, and a deep respect for patient care to every procedure. He’s known for his approachable style and thorough communication—helping patients feel informed and supported throughout the treatment process.
Originally from San Diego, Dr. Wechter earned his undergraduate degree in biological sciences at UC Santa Barbara, where he first became drawn to the Santa Barbara lifestyle—and later, the field of oral surgery. He went on to complete his dental degree at UCLA and then crossed the country to pursue advanced surgical training at the University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospitals.
There, he trained at Ryder Trauma Center—one of the few free-standing trauma centers in the country—gaining extensive experience in complex facial trauma, head and neck pathology, implant surgery, and full-scope office-based anesthesia. His time in South Florida shaped his commitment to delivering safe and compassionate care to patients from all backgrounds and walks of life.
Dr. Wechter is excited to return to Santa Barbara and serve the community where his journey first began. Outside of surgery, he enjoys an active lifestyle—tennis, skiing, hiking, weightlifting—and spending time with family and friends along the Central Coast.
